Over the past 15 years we have built the home to become one of the leading care establishments in Cumbria – renowned for service excellence.

Jennifer Swainson

Our Registered Manager - Jennifer Swainson

Hello, my name is Jennifer Swainson and I am privileged to be the new Registered Manager of St Georges Care Home, with the title Director of Care. This title reflects my 36 years in care; a career serving Cumbria and in particular the people of Furness. I was born in Millom and entered into care as a care assistant, progressing to Area Operations Manager.

Throughout my career I have upheld my root values, that of being hard working, honest, diligent and caring; always giving and helping others. My values are exactly the same as those inherent at St George’s and this is why we work so well together as a team and why our residents enjoy every single day.

My overall responsibility is to ensure the wellbeing of our day visitors and residents, by overseeing the administration of all individual and personal care needs. I give companionship where I can and compassion when it is needed. I also enjoy the lively spirit within the home and encourage everyone to participate in the routine of the day and in the varied and interesting program of activities that we have scheduled throughout the year.

I believe we are setting a new, high standard here at St George’s; bringing peace and happiness, reassurance and fulfillment to all, in a unique home where new friendships are created and new interests enjoyed. Chef

I have been the Chef at St Georges since April 2017 and I really enjoy cooking and preparing meals for our residents.

I often go out into the Home and chat with the residents, sometimes just to get their views on the meals, the choice we offer or how we prepare and present them. I enjoy finding out about what they all like to eat and I have been educated from their ideas and frequently try recipes that they used when they were at home bringing up their families, often we just chat!

Its fabulous getting to know the people you are cooking for, its unlike any other catering job I have done and once you can put a name to a face to see who you are cooking for, its extra special, as it's like cooking for your family! Cooking for your family you always put that extra love and care into what you cook and prepare, which is what I do in my role at St Georges.

The style of food we prepare and cook is good honest home cooked food, which all our residents enjoy.

Administration Clerk

Hi, My name is Nicola

I joined the St Georges family nearly 2 years ago, as an Administration Clerk and from the start I was made to feel very welcome.

Although my role is mainly based in the office, I love nothing more than getting out and about around the home, meeting with the residents and their families and assisting with any enquiries they may have.

No two days are the same in my role which gives me plenty of variety and makes my work fun.

I also volunteer when St Georges arrange excursions for the residents. Its lovely being able to witness the enjoyment the residents get from the varied activities and events that we arrange throughout the year.

I get a great deal of personal satisfaction from my job – knowing you have contributed or enhanced someones well-being, means a lot to me.

Activities Co-ordinator

I have recently joined the team at St Georges as an Activities Co-ordinator.

I really like doing activities with the residents and seeing their enjoyment when partaking in any of the events.

The staff & residents of St Georges are all lovely and have made me feel very welcome. I am always looking for new ideas & events for the residents to experience, my aim is for the residents to achieve as much as possible, and making sure everybody is happy & content.
