We couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful spring day to visit Muncaster Castle than the 27th April.
The spring bulbs were in full bloom as we approached the driveway and the sun was shining despite the chill in the air.
The dining room greeted us with a perfectly laid table for afternoon tea, a vast array of sandwiches, cakes, scones with jam and cream, all washed down with a good cup of tea. The open fire was alight, creating a warm, cosy atmosphere.
We all ate plenty and the Castle Staff were kind enough to box up all the cakes we couldn’t manage. to allow the residents back at St Georges who couldn’t make the trip, to at least be a small part of our outing.
On the way home we stopped at Silecroft Shore to take in the views of the sea. All good day enjoyed by everyone.
